Delano Art Deco Hotel

An identity was developed for the Delano Hotel, which is famous for its Art Deco theme.
The logo was inspired by extrusions common in Art Deco design. A lowercase letter ā€˜dā€™ was customised to make it unique and more geometric, and then extrusions were added.
A unique support pattern was developed that was based on three semicircles of decreasing size, which is another common motif in Art Deco design. These semicircles were then made into prisms and the negative space surrounding them was drawn in three dimensions. When the negative space was flattened down to two dimensions, it made a highly geometric and novel pattern that could be rendered a variety of different ways.
